10th AUGUST 2013 Attendance - 74 CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 1 J.Mackie PATCHWAY TOWN 6 M.Davies x3 L.Drew P.Vice C.Kritikos Patchway Town v Chipping Sodbury Town.
Luke Drew took full advantage of a mix up in the home defence to give Patchway the lead on 5 minutes and then another defensive error gave Matt Davies the chance to score the first of his three goals to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. Danny Coombes gave Sodbury some hope in the 35th minute pulling a goal back. A disputed fourth goal for Patchway on the hour scored by John Pugsley knocked the stuffing out of the home side and two further goals from Matt Davies on 67 and 69 minutes complete his hat-trick put the visitors in the driving seat. A penalty converted by Chris Kritikos in the last minute was the last straw. |

17th AUGUST 2013 Attendance - 43 CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 1 Own Goal LONGLEVENS 2 B.Martin x2 Longlevens needed an element of luck to give them the lead at Chipping Sodbury Town after the home side had started the better 18 minutes. Mike England saw his 30 yard drive pushed over the bar by Jake Underwood on 5 minutes and a few minutes later Ed Smyllie cleared off the line after James Mackie had got behind the visitors defence to send a low cross into the six yard box. Another tremendous effort from Oliver Clarke on 18 minutes a 20 yard shot that clipped the top of the crossbar. The visitors first real attempt on goal came in the 22nd minute a header that looped over the bar from Kempton Griffiths. A minute later Longlevens were in front with a fortuitous goal a cross that was headed goal-wards by Brad Martin only to see it clip the post and the bar as it dropped into the net. The visitors who were missing some key players on the day created a second chance to go further ahead in the 32nd minute but Brad Martin's shot was weak and went straight into the arms of home keeper George Hale. Sodbury last effort before the break came from James Mackie who saw his 25 yard drive just clear the bar.
The home side had much the better of the second half enjoying a large slice of the possession but were unable to break down a very stubborn defence. James Mackie went close with a header on 62 minutes Underwood brought off a good save in the 81st minute but was beaten just a minute later when the ball was deflected off a Longlevens defender over the line. The referee gave the goal with the visitors protesting. It looked like the result would finish all square until Brad Martin fired home from the edge of the box in the very last minute to snatch the three points. |

24th AUGUST 2013 Attendance - 53 THORNBURY TOWN 0 CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 3 A.Fox x2 L.Barrett Thornbury Towns Cup hopes were ended when they went down 3-0 at home to Chipping Sodbury Town. Sodbury showed their intensions right from the off and only a great save by home keeper Ross Britton tipping the ball over the bar from an Aex Fox volley from just outside the box on 18 minutes kept the score level. However it was Alex Fox who opened the scoring in the 32nd minute following up his own shot that had been well saved by Britton but ran loose to Fox to net the rebound. Tom Webb’s cross in the 35th minute was wasted as Nathan Irwin fired into the side netting for Thornbury. Sodbury went 2-0 up in the 59th minute from a Dan Bendall cross that was volleyed home by Liam Barrett. A third goal on 65 minutes a second from Alex Fox put Sodbury well on their way to the next round. In the closing minutes Fox almost got his third of the afternoon but for a brilliant save from keeper Ross Britton.

26th AUGUST 2013 Attendance - 30 BRISTOL ACADEMY 2 T.Waterman M.Winter CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 3 J.Mackie x2 L.Harding Lloyd Harding scored on his 100th League appearance for The Sods.
The result was only decided in the very last minute of the game with a third goal from Chipping Sodbury. Sodbury used the long ball on quite a few occasions in the first 45 minutes whilst the home side were always looking to build from the back with their neat and precise passing game. Both sides enjoyed equal amount of possession but did not create many chances that is until the 40th minute when a long ball up field by the Sodbury defence caught out the Academy with both the goalkeeper and one of their defenders failing to control the ball and James Mackie had a simple task of sliding the ball home. Four minutes later Sodbury got a second from a long corner swung over from the right to the far post and Lloyd Harding who was unmarked powered his header into the net. The Academy’s second half performance was much sharper and Toby Waterman finished of a great piece of football to make it 2-1 on 51 minutes. The Academy drew level in the 65th minute with a goal from Mason Winter and had several more chances to take the lead as the game progressed. A mistake in the 89th minute cost them dearly as James Mackie drove the ball home to give Sodbury the three points. The home side were unlucky to go away with nothing and this fourth loss in a row in the league keeps them at the foot of the table. |

31st AUGUST 2013 Attendance - 85 CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 0 FRAMPTON UNITED 5 J.Browning B.Bulley M.Cook D.Huxstep F.Wilson At Chipping Sodbury Town the visitors Frampton United went away with their first win of the season with a very impressive 5-0 victory. A Spokesman from Sodbury described it as a day when his team were not at the office. Frampton were in front after 3 minutes with a shot from the edge of the box by Josh Browning. Frazer Wilson made it 2-0 on 24 minutes again a good crisp shot from the edge of the box. A third from Ben Bulley on 59 minutes shook the home side but Frampton had not finished as Matt Cook netted the fourth on 72 minutes and Dan Huxstep finished it of with a fifth two minutes from the end.

7th SEPTEMBER 2013 Attendance - 28 ROCKLEAZE RANGERS 1 S.Budding CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 0 Rockleaze Rangers gained their first win of the season with a slender 1-0 victory over Chipping Sodbury Town. Not a lot happened in the first 45 minutes, but the home side brought on Shane Budding for his first outing since picking up an injury at the end of last season. Budding definitely made the difference as he struck the visitors crossbar on two occasions in the 60th and 67th minutes and then finally beat the visitors keeper in the 77th minute when he stole the ball off a Sodbury defender before firing the ball past George Hale. Sodbury staged a late rally and Alex Fox went close in the 87th minute but the home side hung on for the win.

Daryl Addis gave the home side the lead after 5 minutes and Mike Nelson made it 2-0 on the half hour with a headed goal. Sodbury went 3-0 down on 50 minutes after Tom Creeds shot was only parried by the visitor’s keeper and Derek Roberts followed up to score. This was revenge for the home defeat by Berkeley just a few weeks earlier. James Mackie was brought down in the box by Gillison on 38 minutes and Alex Fox netted number four from the penalty spot. 4 minutes into the second half Tom Palmer pulled a goal bock for the home side also from the penalty spot. 23rd NOVEMBER 2013 Attendance - 38 CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 4 J.Mackie x2 J.Cattle Own Goal THORNBURY TOWN 0 The Sods recorded a convincing win over Thornbury Town.
Sodbury took the lead in the tenth minute when Thorns lost possession in midfield and the ball was quickly played up to James Mackie, who ran clear of the defence before slotting the ball past Ross Britton. Thorns responded well and two minutes later Aaron Jones header from a corner went inches wide of the post. However, the home side did not let Thorns back into the game and doubled their lead in the 17th minute when Justin Cattle headed home from a corner. Sodbury had chances to extend their lead but missed chances from Mackie and Cattle kept Thorns in the game. Thornbury almost pulled a goal back moments before the break when Steve Thompsons's free kick found Nathan Irwin in the penalty area but his shot went narrowly wide. Thornbury started the second half a little brighter but their good work was undone in the 53rd minute when Ross Britton couldn't hold a Mackie shot and Rick Lippiat's clearance hit Nathan Sage and rebounded into the net. Thorns tried to get back into the game as a Steve Thompson cross found brother Danny but he fired his shot over the bar. At this stage Thornbury were enjoying more possession but they conceded a fourth 20 minutes from time when Cattle's cross found Mackie unmarked at the far post and he headed home. Thorns were denied a late consolation when Luke Franklin's through ball found Jon Barlow but the Sodbury keeper pulled off a brave save at his feet. |

30th NOVEMBER 2013 Attendance - 24 PATCHWAY TOWN 1 B.Benjamin CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 0 The local derby between Patchway Town and Chipping Sodbury Town turned out to be a very uninspiring affair with both sides failing to keep possession of the ball for very long. The game was settled in the 9th minute when Brandon Benjamin received the ball just inside the box turned and drove a left footed shot into the corner out of the reach of Sodbury keeper George Hale. The visitor’s first effort on goal came after 21 minutes a shot from Kyle Ford that went over the bar. A shot from Mike England on 28 minutes saw home keeper James Kaminski at full stretch to palm the ball over the bar.
The nearest Sodbury came to scoring was a brilliant individual effort from Dan Bendall that struck the upright and was cleared. Patchway could have sewn the game up in the 79th minute from a low cross into the box by Matt Davies that John Pugsley skied high over the bar. There was just one more chance for Patchway to get a second just two minutes later but George Hale brought of a brilliant save from Mark Stoneham from point blank range. |

7th DECEMBER 2013 Attendance - 24 CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 7 J.Cattle x3 J.Mackie x2 O.Clarke D.Coombes HANHAM ATHLETIC 1 B.Hodge Chipping Sodbury Town hit the jackpot in their home fixture with Hanham Athletic with a resounding 7-1 win. The home side were bolstered by having the five missing player from last weeks fixture at Patchway Town and it certainly made the difference. The star man was Justin Cattle who chipped in with his first hattrick of the season. Cattle opened the scoring on five minutes and then set up James Mackie to net the second on sixteen minutes. Cattle then scored a second on thirty four minutes to give the home side a comfortable three nil lead at the break. Dan Bendall’s pass put James Mackie through to make it four nil in the fiftieth minute. A superb free kick from Ollie Clark made it number five. Hanham pulled a goal back in the seventy fourth minute with a strike from Bill Hodge but within a minute Sodbury scored again when James Mackie set up Danny Coombes for number six. Justin Cattle rounded it all off with his third of the afternoon in the eighty seventh minute.

Forty one minutes had passed before the deadlock was broken and it was a catalogue of disasters from the home defence. A back pass to Paul Dempsey was misjudged and then the home keeper also misjudged the speed of the ball and it allowed Ed Freeman to nip in and score. Sodbury got on level terms in the fifty sixth minute with a goal from Justin Cattle. Then James Mackie missed a good opportunity to put the home side ahead before Rangers stole the show in the seventy third minute Nathan Bryer heading home from a corner.

18th JANUARY 2014 Attendance - 51 FRAMPTON UNITED 2 K.Bulley C.Fowers CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN 1 L.Harding Frampton United entertained Chipping Sodbury Town on a wet but playable pitch at the Bell Field. Apparently the pitch has layers of gravel under the surface and allows the surface water to drain very quickly. Sodbury were the first to mount an attack but failed to make a break through early on. Frampton’s first attack brought the opening goal on four minutes, Chris Fowers first shot on target was pushed over the bar by Sodbury keeper Chris Simsek and from the resulting corner the ball was crossed into the box was met by Steve Jackson who in turn laid the ball off to Kris Bulley to drive the ball home. A break down the right flank by Sam Jenkins on seven minutes was knocked away for a corner to Sodbury, the cross to the far post was cleared to the edge of the box by the home defence and was picked up by Lloyd Harding whose powerful shot from the edge of the box went over the bar. Frampton’s second attack brought a second goal on nine minutes this time it was Chris Fower firing home from twenty yards. Sodbury were unlucky in the twenty eighth minute when James Mackie got behind the home defence but his shot from eight yards was smothered by home keeper Scott Gearon and pushed away for a corner. In the thirty second minute Gearon pulled off another great save to deny Justin Cattle’s twenty yard low drive going in when he dived to his left to push the ball around the post.
The home side were the first to attack in the second half with a good break down the left that had the Sodbury defence scrambling to clear the danger. Frampton were unlucky in the fifty forth minute when Steve Jackson found space in the box and a clear shot on goal drove it hard at the target but a Sodbury defender flung his body in the way and it took a deflection over the bar. The home side were almost caught out in the sixtieth minute when a long ball from well inside the Sodbury half was driven high towards the home goal and with Gearon well off his line he just managed to scramble back to take the ball. A few minutes later the keeper was back pedalling to divert a shot from Sam Jenkins away for a corner. Simsek was well placed to take a firm drive from Frampton’s Frazer Wilson in the sixty sixth minute. Sodbury made the game tighter in the seventy third minute pulling a goal back with a Lloyd Harding shot that took a wicked deflection off a defender on its way in. Frampton should have sealed the game in the seventy fifth minute when they were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box. Chris Fower had the chance to make it three – one but his spot kick was brilliantly saved by Simsek diving low to his left to keep the ball out. Sodbury’s last chance to level came just a minute from the end but the final shot went high over the bar. In time added at the end of ninety minutes Frampton’s Karl Palmer had a great chance to make it three – one but was denied by Simsek who brought of another great save. |

Sodbury went further ahead on fifty minutes as James Mackie broke down the left and fired the ball home. Cattle rounded the scoring off in time added at the end of the game picking up a cross from Bendall before rounding a Ellwood defender and driving the ball home.

Kingswood took the lead on twenty three minutes from a Simon Clarke shot from the edge of the box that squirmed under keeper Ed Mullins. A second goal for Kingswood on forty minute scrambled home by Jim Crossfield gave the visitors a comfortable lead. It was then made worse for the home side when Coombes got his marching orders. The home side put extra effort into their game in the second half and were rewarded on seventy five minutes when James Mackie pulled a goal back with a shot from just inside the box. With just two minutes to go Sodbury drew level. The visitors fielded a weakened side and had no substitutes. They did however create the first attempt on goal after eight minutes a shot from Gareth Davies that was well saved by keeper Cameron Currin. Sodbury opened the scoring on twelve minutes a twenty yard volley from Justin Cattle that gave Dan Greenhouse no chance. At this point Cleeve lost James Pickup and were down to ten men. Louis Speddings shot into the roof of the net from just inside the box on twenty nine minutes made it four – nil. Justin Cattle netted his second from a cross in from the left on thirty two minutes. Dan Bendall almost made it five but for a great save from Greenhouse. Cattle completed his hattrick in the forty first minute with a superb low drive that gave the keeper no chance. Five minutes into the second half James Mackie headed home to complete his hattrick. Cleeves Nick Hill was unlucky when his forty yard free kick struck the crossbar in the sixty first minute.
